‘One Stop Service Act, 2017’ to be placed in the upcoming session of JS: Kamal

DHAKA, May 17, 2017 (BSS)-Planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today said 'One Stop Service Act, 2017' will be placed in the upcoming session of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) to facilitate businesses in the country.

"The government will do everything for the development of the country. If required we will bring down the tax rates to zero percent because we want to take the country ahead," said the planning minister and urged the business people to go for a massive investment in the country.

He was speaking at a seminar on 'Bangladesh's infrastructure' at Hotel Sonargaon here. Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) organized the seminar with its president Abul Kashem Khan in the chair. Executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Kazi M Aminul Islam was present as special guest.

Country manager of International Finance Corporation (IFC) Wendy Jo Werner presented keynote paper at the seminar.

Kamal said Padma bridge, Rooppur nuclear power plant, 1320MW Rampal power plant and deep seaport are among the priority projects of the government. Now time has come to give attention to the development of the infrastructure, he added.

Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041. The government has US$29 billion in its hand for taking up different projects for the development of the country, he added.

The minister said the country has made significant progress in different areas of the economy. Bangladesh collected revenue at the rate of 18 percent over the last eight years and internal resources now help meet around 90 finance of the national budget.

BIDA executive chairman Kazi M Aminul Islam said the country needs to boost investment for the development of infrastructure to turn the country into a developed one by 2041. About the 'One Stop Service', he said the introduction of it will help business people get different types of services.

DCCI's former presidents Aftab-ul-Islam and Ashif Ibrahim, Chittagong Port Authority chairman Rear Admiral M Khaleq Iqbal and ASM Moinuddin Momen of Abdul Momen Limited, among others, spoke at the seminar.
