Khilgaon: Khilgaon Thana Police arrested another individual for his alleged involvement in an attack on an on-duty traffic constable in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area. The detainee was identified as Mostafizur Rahman Babu, 47.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Babu was arrested during a raid in the Khilgaon area around midnight today, as stated in a police press release. The incident in question occurred on September 2, when traffic constable Rabiul Islam was on duty at the South Signal in Khilgaon. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain of Mugda Medical College Hospital, who was delayed at the traffic signal in his personal car, reportedly verbally abused and accused the constable of accepting bribes.

When questioned by Constable Islam, Dr. Hossain allegedly threatened him before leaving the scene. Approximately 15 minutes later, Dr. Hossain returned with a group of 10-12 individuals on 6-7 motorcycles. This group reportedly assaulted Constable Islam, inflicting serious injuries to his chest, back, and other body parts.

ASI Rabiul Hasan, who attempted to intervene, was also pushed, and his hand badge was torn off during the altercation. Police reinforcements arrived after being informed by higher authorities via radio, ultimately rescuing the officers involved.

In the aftermath of the attack, traffic constable Rabiul Islam filed a regular case, which led to the immediate arrest of Dr. Anwar Hossain on the same day.
