Jamalpur: One person was killed and three others were injured when a battery-run auto rickshaw was crushed by a bus on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh highway at Sharifpur area in Jamalpur Sadar upazila today. The accident occurred around 8:30 am when a Jamalpur-bound bus from Mymensingh collided with the auto rickshaw. The identities of the victims have not been confirmed yet.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Officer-in-Charge of Jamalpur Police Station confirmed the incident. Following the crash, local residents reacted by setting the bus on fire.
A team from the fire service and civil defense arrived at the scene promptly, rescuing the injured passengers and extinguishing the fire. The injured were taken to Jamalpur General Hospital, and two of them were later referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
