Dinajpur: A man was killed and six others of a family were injured in a road accident in the district town this noon. The deceased was identified as Jahidul Islam, 30, son of Chan Mia of Debipur village under Nijpara union of Birganj upazila of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident took place in front of Nashipur Cold Storage on the Dinajpur-Dashamile highway. A covered van collided with an easy bike coming from the opposite direction, resulting in critical injuries to the seven easy bike passengers, as reported by Sub-Inspector (SI) Rezaul Karim of the Dashmile Highway Police.
The injured were transported to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital, where Jahidul succumbed to his injuries. SI Rezaul Karim stated, “The accident occurred when seven people of a family were returning home on an easy bike after visiting their sick uncle at the Islamic Hospital in the district town.”
