Chattogram: Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have detained a youth along with 3,920 Yaba tablets from the Chawkbazar area of the city. The arrested individual was identified as Md. Selim, 38, son of Md. Hashem, hailing from the Durgapur area of Kachua upazila in the Chandpur district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the contraband goods were recovered on Saturday afternoon during an operation while a checkpoint was established at the Parade Ground area on Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah Road in Chawkbazar by RAB-7. ARM Mozaffar Hossain, assistant director (Media) of the RAB-7, disclosed the information through a press release.
During the operation, the authorities confiscated a CNG-run auto-rickshaw used for transporting the narcotics. The estimated worth of the seized contraband Yaba tablets is Taka 11.80 lakh. The arrested person and the recovered narcotics have been transferred to the Chawkbazar Police Station for further legal proceedings, the official added.
