One gets life-term imprisonment for keeping drug in C’nawabganj

A court here on Monday afternoon sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment in a drug case.

The court also fined convict, Mizanur Rahman, 25, son of Abdul Mazid of Bazratek village under Bholahat upazila of the district, Taka 10,000.

Additional District and Session Judge Rabiul Islam pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict.

According to the prosecution story, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on July 12, 2021 arrested Mizanur with 1.4 kg of heroin from Dhansura area under Nachole upazila of the district.

Next day Sub-inspector Nibas Mistry of Rajshahi Mollapara camp of RAB-5 filed a case against Mizanur with Nachole Police Station.

Later, investigating officer of the case Sub-inspector Lalan Das of Nachole Police station submitted a charge sheet against Mizanur to the court on August 18, 2021.

After a long hearing the court handed down the punishment, the court sources said.
