Magura: A truck driver was killed in a head-on collision between a rice-laden truck and a passenger bus on the Magura-Dhaka highway early today. The deceased was identified as Biplob Hossain, 35, son of Amir Ali, a resident of Badpukuria village in Jhenaidah district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred around 12:00 am in the Belnagar area of the highway when a truck heading towards Rajbari collided head-on with a Satkhira Line passenger bus coming from Dhaka. Biplob Hossain, the driver of the truck, sustained critical injuries in the crash. Locals rescued him and took him to Magura 250-bed District Hospital. He was later referred to Dhaka for advanced treatment but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Magura Highway Police Station Alamgir Hossain confirmed the incident. Both vehicles have been seized, and the bus driver managed to flee the scene, OC added.
