One Arrested with 17 Gold Bars in Jashore

Jashore: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a drive, arrested a man with 17 gold bars worth over Taka 3.8 crore from Darajhat area on the Jashore-Narail highway this morning. The arrested was Sanjay Sarkar, 37, son of Akhil Sarkar of Dhuljhora village under Boalmari upazila in Faridpur district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a BGB team conducted a drive in the area around 11.30 am after receiving information, leading to the arrest of Sanjay. The team recovered the gold bars, weighing one kilogram (Kg) 934 grams, after searching his body, as stated by Jashore BGB-49 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui.

The detained Sanjay has been handed over to the Jashore Kotwali Police Station and a case has been filed in this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Siddiqui added.
