Khulna: Police have arrested Sabur Molla, 35, an accused in the murder case of journalist Emdadul Haque Milon. The arrest took place at Sholua Bazar under the Aranghata thana.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sabur was apprehended on Wednesday night from the Satkhira Sadar thana area with the help of the Rapid Action Battalion. Following his arrest, he was presented before the court and subsequently sent to jail custody. Sabur Molla is identified as the son of Kawsar Ali Molla, residing in the Sholua Bazar area under Aranghata Police Station.
Police have indicated that Sabur is involved in a pending robbery case at Aranghata Police Station and is allegedly connected to a local criminal gang. The murder of journalist Emdadul Haque Milon occurred on December 18, when he was fatally shot at a tea stall in Sholua Bazar by four armed assailants who arrived on two motorcycles. The attackers also targeted local livestock officer Debashish Biswas during their escape, injuring him.
Milon, the son of Bazlur Rahman from Sholua Bazar, managed an online news portal. The injured Debashish Biswas, son of Rabindranath Biswas, is also a resident of the same area.
