DHAKA, Feb 9, 2017 (BSS)- Information Secretary Murtaza Ahmed today directed the officials concerned to monitor pronunciation of Bangla language in the programmes of country's FM band radios.

The FM band radios are airing programmes with distorted pronunciation of Bangla language taking the advantage of using dialects, he said speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on 'Use of Bangla Language in Office Work and Spelling Rules' for officials of information ministry at the ministry's meeting room.

Information Ministry Additional Secretary M Manzur Rahman was the main speaker while Additional Secretaries Saraf Uddin Ahmed and Shahjadi Anjuman Ara, Joint Secretaries M Abul Kalam Azad and Mizan-ul-Alam and other officials and employees were present.

He asked the ministry's concerned officials and one official of Bangladesh Betar monitor this.

The secretary said the practice of correct Bangla, the lone language sustained at the cost of blood, would make office activities dynamic and pleasant.

He stressed for upholding the habit of reading book and newspapers and writing in correct spelling and speaking in correct pronunciation.

The secretary said the information ministry will fully abide by the court verdict on using Bangla in official activities.

After the workshop, he distributed Bangla Academy's 'Adhunik Bangla Obhidhan' (modern Bangla dictionary) among the participants.
