Dhaka: After a nine-day Eid vacation, government and private offices, along with banks, financial institutions, and courts, resumed operations today. Banking services started at 10:00 AM across the country, with transactions continuing until 4:00 PM. The stock market also opened at 10:00 AM and will continue operations until 2:30 PM.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, officials and employees returning to work were seen exchanging Eid greetings with their colleagues. However, a festive mood still lingered as many holidaymakers have yet to return to the capital. Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals for Muslims, was celebrated across the country on March 31.
The Eid holidays began on March 28 and concluded on April 5. The government declared a five-day public holiday for the occasion. However, with the government’s executive order, the holiday period was extended until April 3. Additionally, the regular weekly holidays of Friday and Saturday (April 4 and 5) added to the festive break, allowing government employees to enjoy a continuous nine-day holiday.
