Dhaka: A notification banning all activities of the Bangladesh Awami League (AL) will be issued on the next working day, Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul announced. He made these remarks at a press conference held in front of the State Guest House Jamuna after a meeting with the council of advisers.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the special meeting of the council of advisers, held at Jamuna, resulted in the approval of an amendment to the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act. Dr. Asif Nazrul explained that the council of advisers decided to ban all activities of the Awami League, including those online, under the Anti-Terrorism Act. This measure will remain in effect until the conclusion of trials for the AL and its leaders and workers in the International Crimes Tribunal. The decision aims to ensure the country’s security and sovereignty, as well as the safety of leaders and activists of the July Movement, and the plaintiffs and witnesses involved with the International Crimes Tribunal.

Additionally, the meeting resolved to finalize and publish the July Proclamation within the next 30 working days. Present at the press conference were Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuj Alam, and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan.
