Durgapur: Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Deputy Speaker and Netrokona-1 (Durgapur-Kalmakanda) constituency lawmaker Barrister Kayser Kamal announced that no political leader would be allowed to serve on school managing committees, underscoring the importance of keeping educational institutions free from political influence. "Those who will engage in politics have union or ward committees for that purpose; there will be no place for any political leader in running a school," he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Barrister Kayser Kamal made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a farewell reception for retired secondary-level teachers held at the Zila Parishad auditorium in Durgapur. The event was organized by the Durgapur upazila branch of the Bangladesh Teachers Association. During his address, Kamal emphasized that the powers of managing committees must not be politically misused.
He further urged the creation of an educational environment devoid of political influence and suggested the inclusion of retired teachers in managing committees to leverage their experience. Kamal highlighted the need to change societal attitudes towards child protection, arguing that the nation could be developed by nurturing society and the state with the same care as one would for their own family.
In his speech, he also recalled the contributions of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to the field of education and encouraged all to evaluate Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's state reform outlines with an objective perspective, beyond partisan interests.
