Rangpur: Leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Rangpur Metropolitan unit have stated that there will be no permanent political stability in the country without the implementation of the July Charter. They expressed these views during a protest march and rally organized by Rangpur Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami on a five-point demand, which includes the issuance of the July Charter implementation order and holding a referendum before the national elections on Friday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the protest march commenced from the Rangpur Public Library ground, making its way through City Bazar, Paira Chattar, Jahaz Company Intersection, and Grand Hotel Intersection before concluding at the Shapla Chattar in the city. The area resonated with slogans such as 'A referendum must be held in November, must be held', 'The July Charter must be implemented, must be done', reflecting the demands of the marchers.
Prominent figures from the Rangpur Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami, including Ameer Vice-principal ATM Azam Khan, Secretary KM Anwarul Haque Kajal, Assistant Secretary Professor Raihan Siraji, among others, addressed the rally. ATM Azam Khan emphasized the significance of the July National Charter as the sole guide to the nation's liberation and justice, asserting that without its implementation, permanent political stability in the country cannot be achieved. He urged for an immediate state order to implement the July Charter.
Khan further insisted on the necessity of a referendum to gauge public opinion before the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad elections. He reiterated that the movement would persist until democracy is restored, human rights are safeguarded, and the five-point demands are fulfilled. He highlighted Jamaat-e-Islami's commitment to establishing the people's voting rights and vowed to intensify the movement across every police station and ward in Rangpur metropolis until these rights are realized.
Earlier speeches by party leaders called upon the masses to prepare for a rigorous movement at any moment to meet the aspirations of the country's populace.
