Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) declared today that anyone found participating in sabotage or attempting to revive prohibited activities by the Awami League will face consequences. He assured that there are no concerns about potential threats around August 5.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chowdhury responded to queries about a recent meeting between a Bangladesh Army major and Awami League representatives following a visit to the Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka. He emphasized that the activities of the Awami League had been banned, and any attempts to breach this prohibition would lead to legal action.
Regarding the meeting’s purpose, Jahangir stated, “The details will emerge after further investigation.” He also addressed questions about possible threats on August 5, firmly stating, “There is no apprehension regarding August 5,” and highlighted the role of media cooperation in maintaining peace.
Chowdhury noted, “The media’s efforts in reporting the truth have already helped curtail foreign media propaganda about Bangladesh,” and added, “If the media continues to tell the truth, it will benefit the people and contribute to a better law and order situation in the country.”
