No deal against country’s interest: Quader

DHAKA, March 13, 2017 (BSS) -Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday ruled out the possibility of making any agreement with neighboring India harming the national interests.

"We have positive relations with India. If we make any agreement it will be for the sake of the national interest," he told a discussion hosted by Jatiya Sramik League in front of Awami League Central Office at Bangabandhu Avenue here yesterday.

The AL general secretary said BNP has started applying their old habit anti-Indian sentiment after hearing the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's tour to India.

"You (BNP) have started making different talks (allegations) before Sheikh Hasina's going to official tour to India. I can firmly say that our Prime Minister would not make any treaty harming national interest," he added.

Jatiya Sramik League organized the discussion marking the historic 7th March Speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

AL joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organizing secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Sramik League general secretary Sirajul Islam, among others, addressed the function with the host organization president Shukkur Mahmud.

Quader said BNP is saying that they will not take part in the next national election under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, but they have started taking up preparation for the polls secretly.

The AL general secretary said different organizations in the name of Bangabandhu, his family members and Awami League were founded for political interest, these should be closed. "These organizations have no ideology," he added.

About the strike, the minister said those who wage strike making people as hostage, they can never be friend of people.

"Movements can be waged in different ways for the sake of people's interest. Programme must be realistic," he said.

The AL general secretary said many conspiracies are hatched centering the labours and workers.

He urged the workers not to pay any heed to the conspiracy.
