Jhenaidah: Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman today issued a stern warning against corrupted people, stating that no corrupt individual will be allowed to thrive in the emerging Bangladesh. "No corrupt person will be allowed to rise. We are determined to expose the faces behind corruption," he asserted.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the attorney general's warning came while responding to questions from journalists following the inauguration of the regional office of the National University in Jhenaidah. He described Bangladesh as a nation caught in quicksand and standing at a pivotal crossroads, highlighting the sacrifices of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, Mugdho, and Wasim in 2024 for the vision of a renewed country. He emphasized that corrupt individuals will not be given the opportunity to gain power.
The attorney general referred to the attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy. Asaduzzaman termed the incident as criminal in nature and questioned the possibility of banning the Jatiya Party for its historical actions. He accused the Jatiya Party of betrayal between 1982 and 1990 and aiding Awami League's repressive actions during controversial elections and the July uprising, suggesting he would examine legal grounds for a potential ban.
While discussing law enforcement capabilities, the attorney general acknowledged the challenges but assured that incidents are being controlled promptly. He noted the public's growing resentment manifesting in various forms over the past 17 years, describing these incidents as unfortunate.
Following the inauguration of the National University's regional office, a discussion meeting was held with National University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, Deputy Commissioner of Jhenaidah Abdul Awal, Jhenaidah District BNP President Abdul Majid, District Jamaat Ameer Professor Ali Azam Mohammad Abu Bakar, and Gono Odhikar Parishad President Sakhawat Hossain in attendance.
