‘Nil Sagar Express’ Train Derails in Bogura; Over 50 Injured

Bogura: Over 50 people were injured as nine bogies of a train derailed at Santahar Rail Station in Adamdighi upazila in Bogura district. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, causing significant disruption to train services.



According to United News of Bangladesh, nine bogies of the Nilphamari-bound ‘Nil Sagar Express’ train from Dhaka veered off the tracks at Chatian in Adamdighi upazila around 2:30 pm. Kahinur, the station master of Santahar Railway Junction, confirmed the derailment, which has halted train communication between Dhaka and the northern parts of the country.



Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Adamdighi Police Station Md Ataur Rahman reported that over 50 passengers sustained injuries in the accident. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported so far. Efforts are currently underway to remove the derailed coaches from the tracks, with a rescue train expected to arrive at the site to commence a full-scale salvage operation.
