Bogura: Three people were burned to death and nine others suffered burn injuries after the gas cylinder of a microbus exploded on Dhaka-Bogura highway at Sonka in Sherpur upazila of Bogura district.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased were identified as Maminul Islam, his sister Sheuli Behum, and Tayeba, the niece of Sheuli, all hailing from Taluk Shahbaz in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur district. The tragic incident occurred around 7:30 am as the microbus, en route to the northern region of the country, caught fire when its gas cylinder went off with a big bang and overturned. This resulted in one person dying on the spot and injuring eleven others, as confirmed by Bakhtiar Uddin, a warehouse inspector of Bogura Fire Service and Civil Defense.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a firefighting unit promptly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. The injured passengers were rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital. Unfortunately, two more individuals were declared dead by the attending doctors after their arrival at the hospital.
