Dhaka:Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has called upon newly appointed police officers to contribute to a sustainable and safe Bangladesh by carrying out their duties with honesty, sincerity, and neutrality.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the IGP made this appeal during a directional briefing for the newly posted Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) of the 43rd BCS (Police) batch at the Hall of Integrity at Police Headquarters on Thursday morning.
Highlighting the current situation, the IGP remarked that after 17 years of fascist rule, the democratic government is now serving amid high public expectations. He stated that the Bangladesh Police has developed a new roadmap that is sensitive to public expectations, human rights, and the needs of women, children, and elderly citizens.
The IGP emphasized the importance of new police officers embracing the challenge of meeting public expectations with renewed vigor and commitment. He urged each officer to act as an ambassador of the force, standing beside citizens.
Referring to policing as both a service and a challenge, the IGP encouraged officers to address the societal and state challenges that have emerged following the mass uprising on August 5. He described the new officers as "future police leaders" and instructed them to maintain neutrality, uphold the rule of law, and build a relationship of trust with the public.
A total of 72 officers, including 66 men and six women, have joined the Bangladesh Police as ASPs under the 43rd BCS (Police) batch. The ceremony was chaired by Additional IGP (Administration) A K M Awlad Hossain and attended by other senior officials, including Additional IGP (Finance) Md. Akram Hossain and Additional IGP (HRM) Khondokar Rafiqul Islam. Deputy Inspector General (DIG-Admin) Md. Humayun Kabir conducted the event.
