Dhaka: The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection today launched a new mobile Android application named ‘Bazardor’ to provide consumers with real-time information on the fluctuating market prices of essential commodities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the app was inaugurated by the Director General (DG) of the Directorate, Mohammad Alim Akhter Khan, during a ceremony held in the directorate’s conference room. The event witnessed the presence of several notable figures, including Director (admin and finance) Abdul Jalil, Director (allegations and investigation) Mohammad Azizul Islam, and Director (activities and laboratory) Fakir Mohammad Monowar Hossain. Also present were the Principal of Daffodil Institute of IT, Md Sakhawat Hossain, senior officials of the directorate, and Md Ibrahim Molla, a student of Daffodil Institute of IT and the developer of the app.
During his speech at the launch, DG Alim Akhter Khan emphasized the directorate’s commitment to safeguarding consumer rights and providing consumer-friendly services, despite facing challenges such as limited manpower, technological constraints, and financial limitations. He described the app as easy, efficient, and user-friendly, adding that it would be incorporated into the directorate’s regular activities.
The DG extended his gratitude to Md Ibrahim Molla, the developer of the app, for offering the application to the directorate at no cost. He encouraged collective efforts to ensure the app’s success. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the directorate and Md Ibrahim Molla to implement the app and ensure its sustainable development by providing technical assistance.
