Ten More Deaths Reported Amid Measles Outbreak

Dhaka: Ten more children have succumbed to measles and measles-like symptoms in the country over the past 24 hours. Among these, one case was confirmed as measles, while the remaining nine exhibited measles-like symptoms, as per a report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the number of suspected measles cases has surged, with 1,166 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of suspected cases to 40,491 since the outbreak began on March 15. In the same period, 95 new confirmed measles cases were reported, raising the cumulative count of confirmed cases to 5,313.



Since March 15, hospitals have admitted 27,816 suspected measles patients. Out of these, 24,090 have recovered and were subsequently discharged. In the last 24 hours alone, one death from confirmed measles was recorded, increasing the total confirmed measles deaths to 50. Additionally, nine deaths from suspected measles occurred in the same period, bringing the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 244.



The Dhaka Division remains the most affected, with the highest number of suspected measles cases reported at 18,339, out of which 3,637 have been confirmed as measles.
