Dhaka: BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee today remarked that there has been a significant awakening among the new generation after August 5, as they aspire to lead the nation. Anee shared his views at a ‘students’ reception’ event at Dattapara Degree College in Sadar Upazila.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Anee highlighted the past 17 years under what he termed the fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina, during which thousands of BNP leaders and activists faced oppression, torture, disappearances, murders, and attacks. Despite these challenges, he emphasized that the struggle has persisted.

Anee noted that during the last July movement, students, alongside their guardians, supported the BNP, ultimately leading to the tyrannical government of Sheikh Hasina fleeing the country. He expressed hope that the new era’s leadership would align with the aspirations of the awakened youth through meaningful changes.

He urged both Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders and activists across educational institutions to connect with the current generation’s sentiments. Furthermore, he shared that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman encouraged teamwork and visiting every household to engage more effectively.

The event was presided over by College Principal Md Nurul Alam Bulbul, with Assistant Professor Masuma Banu Rita conducting the program. Other speakers included Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Vice President and BNP leader Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, Chandraganj Thana BNP president Belal Hossain, and governing body members Main Uddin Chowdhury Riaz, Habibur Rahman Babu, and Md Yusuf Bhuiyan.
