New Algerian envoy presents credentials to President

Resident Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh Rabah Larbi presented his credentials to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Monday afternoon.

President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the ceremony.

Welcoming the envoy to Bangladesh, the President expressed satisfaction over the existing excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Algeria.

He recalled Algeria's contributions to Bangladesh soon after its independence and the historic visit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to Algiers in September 1973.

Abdul Hamid also thanked the government of Algeria for reopening its mission in Dhaka, saying through this, the existing bilateral ties between the two countries will reach a new height in the days to come.

Bangladesh reopened its embassy in Algeria in October 2016 while Algeria also reopened their mission in Bangladesh in 2019.

The President expressed the hope that the existing relations in the field of trade and investment between the two countries will expand further during Rabah Larbi's assignment in Dhaka.

The new envoy sought all-out cooperation in discharging his duties in Bangladesh.

In reply, Abdul Hamid assured him of providing all necessary support.

On his arrival at Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out contingent of the horse-mounted President Guard Regiment (PGR) gave the envoy a guard of honour as part of the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Ambassador to Jordan Nahida Sobhan met the President at Bangabhaban in the evening.

Noting that the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Jordan are very excellent, the President asked the envoy to work for properly utilising the commerce and investment potential of the two countries.

During her assignment in Jordan, the mutual cooperation between the two countries, especially exporting Bangladesh's manpower to Jordan, will be enhanced, he hoped.

Secretaries concerned to the President and high officials of the Foreign Ministry were present there.
