Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam today announced that necessary amendments would be made to the government grant policy for short and full-length film production. The aim is to enhance the quality of films produced with state funding.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam made this statement during a view-exchange meeting focused on amending the government grant policy for film production, set for implementation in 2025. The meeting took place at the Tathya Bhaban and was highlighted in a ministry press release.
In discussing the selection process for films awarded government grants in the last fiscal year, Alam emphasized that the films were selected with transparency and in accordance with existing policies. He urged stakeholders in the film industry to ensure high-quality production for films receiving these grants.
Alam noted that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has implemented several measures to improve the quality of films produced with grant support. As part of these efforts, the ministry is moving forward with initiatives to amend the current policy on government grants for film production.
He also invited individuals involved in the film industry to provide written suggestions on areas needing amendments within the existing policy.
The event was attended by Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana, Additional Secretary Nur Md. Mahbubul Haque, Managing Director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation Masuma Rahman Tani, Vice-Chairman of Bangladesh Film Certification Board SM Abdur Rahman, as well as film directors, filmmakers, actors, and other film-related professionals.
