Dhaka: National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer for the northern region, Sarjis Alam, announced today that the NCP has become a crucial political force and will play a decisive role in the forthcoming national elections to help establish a stable and balanced parliament. Sarjis made these remarks during a district-level organizational coordination meeting at Tarek Memorial Auditorium in the Town Hall area this evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sarjis emphasized that in the upcoming national election, the NCP will act as a pivotal force to ensure a stable and balanced parliament. He also noted that those actively participating in the political field will lead efforts to dismantle the influence of the Awami League, and the NCP will continue to work diligently for reforms and justice even after the election.
Sarjis highlighted the importance of youth empowerment as a crucial aspect of the country’s future. He stated that the future of Bangladesh will be shaped by youth leadership emerging from movements focused on education, healthcare, and anti-corruption.
Expressing optimism about the party’s growth, he mentioned plans to expand the NCP’s organizational network to every ward nationwide. Following the implementation of the July Charter and the visible establishment of justice, Sarjis asserted that the NCP aims to become a leading political party in democratic elections.
Addressing the issue of the party symbol, Sarjis stated that there is no legal basis to deny the NCP the ‘Shapla’ symbol, and any unjust denial would be unacceptable. He affirmed that the NCP will participate in the elections with the ‘Shapla’ symbol and has the capacity to field candidates in every constituency.
Discussing electoral strategy, Sarjis mentioned that the NCP does not intend to negotiate for a limited number of seats. However, if another political party presents a commitment reflecting public aspirations and a national consensus for change, an electoral alliance might be considered. Regardless, the NCP plans to contest the polls under its own name and symbol.
Sarjis also stressed the need to dismantle the Awami League’s financial network, identifying it as a key factor in sustaining fascist structures in Bangladesh. He argued that without addressing the funding sources of these structures, genuine change would be unattainable.
Sarjis concluded by stating that the income sources of entities supporting oppressive structures must be seized or regulated to ensure accountability, warning that without such measures, the oppressive framework would persist.
The meeting was chaired by NCP Mymensingh District Chief Coordinator Advocate Javed Rasin and included addresses by Divisional Organizational Secretary Ashikin Alam, Central Organizer (North) Pritom Sohag, and Central Member Fahim Rahman Khan Pathan.
