Dhaka: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has issued strict directives to restrict the entry of unauthorized individuals into Customs Bond Commissionerate (CBC) offices across the country. This move aims to address the increasing concerns over unauthorized participation in various official activities within these offices.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directives were outlined in an official order signed by Suraiya Sultana, Secretary of the Customs, Export and Bond wing of the NBR. The order noted that there is a growing issue of unauthorized outsiders engaging in activities at Customs Bond offices without prior approval. This unauthorized presence has been identified as a factor disrupting the office environment and undermining official discipline and security.
The NBR highlighted that despite previous directives and discussions during revenue review meetings, there has been insufficient progress in addressing the issue of unauthorized access. Recent incidents at different Customs Bond Commissionerates have reportedly involved unauthorized individuals in untoward occurrences, further emphasizing the need for action.
In response, the NBR has instructed all Customs Bond Commissionerates to implement strict legal and administrative measures to prevent the unauthorized entry of individuals into their premises. Moreover, the directive includes a warning that any officer or employee found to have connections or involvement with unauthorized individuals will face disciplinary actions under the Employee Discipline and Appeal Rules, 2018.
