Dhaka: The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has frozen all bank accounts of Faisal Karim Masud, his company Apple Soft IT Limited, and his family members. This action is based on suspicions regarding Masud’s involvement in the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prospective independent candidate in the upcoming national polls.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a top CIC official, who chose to remain anonymous, confirmed the development and stated that the move was part of an ongoing investigation. “We have frozen all the bank accounts of Faisal Karim Masud, his company Apple Soft IT Limited, and his family members in connection with the matter,” the official added.
The official emphasized that the decision aims to prevent any potential transfer or concealment of funds while the investigation is underway. The probe seeks to determine whether there was any financial backing to carry out the incident.
Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the shooting of Hadi, while financial intelligence authorities examine possible financial links and transactions related to the case. Earlier, helmet-wearing miscreants on a motorcycle shot Hadi, spokesperson for Inqilab Moncho, in the capital’s Paltan area on December 12, leaving him critically injured.
Investigators have identified one of the attackers as Faisal Karim Masud. In response, the interim government has announced a Tk 50 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest.
