Benapole: Secretary of the Internal Resources Division (IRD) and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Md. Abdur Rahman Khan visited the Customs House, Benapole, to inspect its operations and interact with officials and stakeholders. During the visit, he toured the cargo yard, the cargo vehicle scanning facility, and witnessed the operations of the international check-post. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman issued specific directives for improving passenger services at the international check-post to ensure a smooth experience for travelers, as mentioned in an NBR press release. Following the inspection, he held a meeting with the officers and staff of Benapole Customs House and exchanged views with representatives of various stakeholders. The meeting commenced with a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in a tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara. In the meeting, the NBR chairman emphasized enhancing revenue collection efforts and addressi ng key operational issues. These include expediting goods and cargo unloading under modern risk management, strengthening preventive measures, ensuring compliance with import policy orders, promoting automation, and facilitating trade. Rahman also instructed the prompt settlement of auctionable and damageable goods stored in different sheds. He highlighted the significance of the Benapole land port, noting its role as the largest land port in the country and a pivotal hub for trade facilitation via land routes. He underscored the importance of quickly releasing goods under a modern risk-based approach to ease trade for businesses. Additionally, he called for improving passenger services at the international check-post and ensuring that businessmen and passengers face no unnecessary hassle. The NBR chief stressed that all activities at the port must prioritize the national interest. He urged all concerned parties, including importers, exporters, C and F agents, port authorities, immigration police, and Benap ole Customs House, to execute their responsibilities seamlessly and collaboratively. Expressing satisfaction with the overall activities of Benapole Customs House, he encouraged the officials and staff to continue their diligent work for the country's progress.
