Dhaka: Leaders of the Nationalist Sports Front and members recently appointed to the ad-hoc committees of various sports federations today paid tribute to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman by placing a floral wreath at his grave in the capital. The ceremony, organized under the banner of the Nationalist Sports Front, was followed by a special prayer at the mausoleum, attended by senior joint convener Moinul Haque Moin, office secretary Mizanur Rahman Don, general secretary Jahed Parvez Chowdhury, and convener Niaz Morshed Chowdhury.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, following a change in government, the ad-hoc committees of twenty-seven sports federations were dissolved and replaced with new ad-hoc committees. The Nationalist Sports Front leaders stated that members appointed to these committees are all former athletes and sports organizers selected based on their experience and significant contributions to their respective sports disciplines.
Expressing gratitude to State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque, the founding convener of the Nationalist Sports Front emphasized their commitment to developing the country's sports sector by adhering to his guidance and maintaining zero tolerance against irregularities and corruption. Meanwhile, National Sports Council Director (Sports) and Member Secretary of the Nationalist Sports Front, Jahed Parvez Chowdhury, cautioned that strict action would be taken against any evidence of irregularities or corruption found in the newly formed ad-hoc committees. He also mentioned that efforts are underway to conduct elections in all sports federations within the next three months.
