National U-20 Chess Championship Kicks Off in Bangladesh

Dhaka: The 42nd National Under-20 Chess Championship, featuring both open and girls' sections, commenced today at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall. Boys and girls under the age of 20 from across the country are taking part in the competition.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the open section sees 76 players from 17 districts competing, while the girls' section features 30 participants from 10 districts. In the opening round of the open section, 34 players, including FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid and several other notable competitors, won their respective matches to secure full points.

In the girls' section, 15 players claimed victories in the opening round. Among these winners were Woman FIDE Master Warsia Khusbu and Woman Candidate Master Nusrat Jahan Alo, alongside other strong contenders.

Both sections of the championship are being conducted in a nine-round Swiss League format.
