National Moon Sighting Committee to Convene for Eid-ul-Fitr Date Determination

Dhaka: A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee will be held tomorrow to fix the date of holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims. The meeting will take place at 6 pm in the conference room of the Bangladesh Islamic Foundation (BIF) at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain Kaikobad will preside over the meeting, as mentioned in an official release today. The primary agenda of the meeting is to review information regarding the sighting of the moon of the Shawwal Month, which determines the date of Eid-ul-Fitr.



People across the country are encouraged to report any sightings of the Shawwal moon. They can contact through the phone numbers 02-41053294, 02-226640510, and 02-223383397 if the moon is sighted in any part of Bangladesh’s sky. The Islamic Foundation has also urged individuals to inform the Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of the relevant district or upazila utilizing the provided numbers in case of any moon sighting.
