Jamalpur: National Livestock Week began in the district with the theme of "Local Breeds, Modern Technology: Improvement in Livestock" today. Under the joint auspices of the District Administration and Livestock Department, Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital have organized a series of programs for the week.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the opening day featured a rally that commenced from the Foujdari Mor area in the town this morning. The rally, led by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf Ali, traversed the main roads and concluded at the Old Police Lines ground. The rally was followed by a discussion meeting held at the same venue, chaired by District Livestock Officer Dr. Md Sanowar Hossain.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf Ali emphasized the importance of utilizing modern technology to enhance livestock production and ensure its quality. He highlighted the need to focus more on the livestock sector due to its significant potential. He also instructed the concerned authorities to work diligently to boost production.
The meeting also featured speeches from Additional Superintendent of Police Yeahia Al Mamun, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Azizul Haque, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension Mohammad Alam Sharif Khan, and District Fisheries Officer ANM Ashraful Kabir, among others.
To mark the week, a total of 30 stalls showcasing livestock have been set up at the police lines ground.
