Sherpur: National Jute Day-2025 was observed here today in a befitting manner. The theme of the day was 'Let's avoid using polythene, promote jute goods to build Bangladesh.'
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, to mark the day, the district administration and the district jute office jointly organized a discussion at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room. The meeting was presided over by District Jute Development Officer M Ayub Ali, with Deputy Commissioner Tarafder Mahmudur Rahman serving as the chief guest.
During the event, speakers highlighted the importance of enhancing support for farmers engaged in jute cultivation and ensuring they receive fair prices for their produce. They emphasized the need for strict regulations to encourage the use of jute goods and discourage the use of polythene shopping bags.
Senior officials from the district administration also participated in the discussions, reinforcing the call for policies that support jute promotion and sustainable practices.
