Dhaka: The 13th national election and a referendum on the July National Charter are set to take place on February 12, 2026, as announced by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin. In an address to the nation, the CEC confirmed that voting will occur from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm on that Thursday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the election schedule outlines important deadlines leading up to the election day. Nomination papers must be submitted by December 29, 2025, with the scrutiny of these nominations scheduled from December 30, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
Candidates wishing to appeal against the Returning Officer’s decisions have until January 11 to file their appeals with the Commission. These appeals will be resolved between January 12 and January 18. The final date for candidates to withdraw their nominations is January 20, with election symbols being allocated and the final list of candidates published on January 21.
The election campaign period will run from January 22, 2026, until 7:30 am on February 10, allowing candidates and parties to present their platforms and engage with voters ahead of the national decision-making event.
