Dhaka: The 31st National Senior Men's and 7th National Women's Boxing Championships are set to commence tomorrow at the Muhammad Ali Boxing Stadium in Dhaka. The four-day event, organized by the Bangladesh Boxing Federation, will be inaugurated by National Sports Council Secretary Aminul Islam, who will attend as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the competition will witness participation from seventy-one teams, including district sports associations, affiliated clubs, universities, education boards, city corporations, and services teams. A notable highlight of the event is the participation of New York-based Bangladeshi boxer Zinnat Ferdous, who will compete in the 52 kg weight category for the first time at the national level.
Zinnat Ferdous, who has achieved recent international success, will be honored by the Bangladesh Boxing Federation on the last day of the competition, July 30. The Goodwill Club is sponsoring her travel and incidental expenses. The closing ceremony will feature Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain as the chief guest, who will also distribute prizes to the winners.
In a press conference held at the Bangladesh Boxing Federation office, BBF General Secretary MA Quddus Khan shared these details. BBF President Lt. Colonel M.A. Latif Khan (retd.) and other officials were present at the briefing.
