Jashore: Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani today urged Hindu women to participate in the upcoming general elections while donning traditional vermilions and bangles, known as Sankha-Sindur. He emphasized the importance of this cultural display while addressing a gathering at the local town hall maidan, where he served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the local Hindu communities organized the rally in celebration of Sri Sri Janmastomi, commemorating the birth of Lord Sri Krishna. The event was presided over by Dipangkar Das Raton, President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad, Jashore district unit. The rally also featured speeches from notable figures such as BNP Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary Aninda Islam Amit, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Jashore district unit Prof Golam Rasul, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jashore Md Azaharul Islam, Superintendent of Police (SP) Raonak Jahan, and Principal of Sri Ram Krishna Mission, Jashore, Gayanoprokashanandaji Maharaj.
Nasimul Ghani reiterated the need for vigilance against instigators, assuring that the government is committed to resisting any such threats. He highlighted the unprecedented unity achieved since the political changeover on August 5 last year, suggesting that this unity is crucial for maintaining peace and prosperity.
He further assured that the government supports the freedom of religious practice and will take action against any attempts to hinder this right. The rally began with a colorful procession from the town hall maidan, which moved through the main roads of the town, with a large turnout of Hindu devotees, including men, women, and children.
