Khulna: Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) of Japan has proposed expanding its research and academic collaboration with Khulna University (KU), specifically focusing on the field of biological sciences.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, NAIST has been engaged in a longstanding research partnership with KU's Pharmacy Discipline. This collaboration has already resulted in several joint studies, and currently, three KU graduates are pursuing their PhD research at NAIST.
As part of this ongoing collaborative effort, Professor Naoyuki Inagaki, Vice Dean of NAIST, and Professor Yasumasa Bessho visited Khulna University on Monday. They participated in a seminar and discussion session organized by the Pharmacy Discipline and later engaged in talks with KU administrative officials.
During the meeting, KU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid Khan expressed gratitude to the Japanese professors for their interest in strengthening academic cooperation with KU. The NAIST representatives conveyed their readiness to initiate joint research programmes and faculty exchanges.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions is anticipated to be signed soon to formalize these initiatives.
