Dhaka: National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Md Nahid Islam visited Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) today to see Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha and independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, who was shot earlier in the day.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nahid spoke to reporters after his visit, highlighting the ongoing threats faced by activists of the July Uprising, injured fighters, and families of those killed. He accused the fallen fascist Awami League of being a security threat to the state and its citizens.

Nahid emphasized that those who participated in the 2024 July Uprising, along with ordinary citizens, continued to face insecurity. He suggested that recent incidents, including the attack on Hadi, were not isolated but part of a broader attempt to destabilize the country since August 5, 2024.

Political groups under various banners, Nahid stated, remained united on "the question of July and the question of Bangladesh." He called for unity among July Uprising activists and all anti-fascist political forces.

The NCP convener demanded the arrest of those involved in the shooting within 24 hours and urged accountability from the adviser to the home ministry and the Election Commission. He stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of all citizens and July activists.

Earlier in the afternoon, Hadi was shot in the capital's Bijoynagar area. He was initially taken to DMCH and later transferred to Evercare Hospital for improved treatment.
