Rajshahi: A three-day International Conference on Civil Engineering Research and Innovations (ICCEI) 2025 commenced at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event is being hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering and is centered on new ideas in civil engineering, climate resilience, and infrastructure. The conference aims to connect global researchers and scholars in the field to share pioneering innovations, with a focus on structural, geotechnical, sustainability, and climate resilience in infrastructure.
The conference's main objectives include fostering collaboration, facilitating knowledge exchange, and providing practical insights for both students and professionals to address contemporary challenges such as climate change and smart urban development. The opening ceremony was attended by Vice-chancellor Professor SM Abdur Razzaque and Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof Muhammad Kamruzzaman as the chief and special guests, respectively, with Prof Zahurul Islam, the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, presiding.
Renowned speakers at the event included Prof Tayauki Sujuki from Japan's Yokohama National University, the Director General of Bangladesh Railway Engineer Afzal Hossain, and Additional Chief Engineer of the Department of Roads and Highway ASM Iliash Shah.
VC Prof SM Abdur Razzaque highlighted that the conference has gathered experts, researchers, and students for scholarly discussions on emerging trends and new research in Civil Engineering. The event will showcase recent advancements in structural health monitoring, AI/ML applications, green materials, and sustainable infrastructure.
Prof Razzaque emphasized that the conference will offer students exposure to advanced concepts and practical solutions, supporting their academic and professional development. Additionally, discussions will focus on addressing climate change impacts through sustainable materials, resilient urban planning, and innovative disaster mitigation strategies. He expressed hope that the conference will lead to collaborations between academics, industry leaders, and global experts for future research and projects.
