Kingston: Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana expressed his satisfaction with his performance in the second and final Test against the West Indies, highlighting his focus on disciplined bowling as the key to his success. The lanky pacer achieved his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket, claiming 5-61 in the first innings, which played a crucial role in helping Bangladesh gain the upper hand in the match, despite their initial struggle with the bat. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rana's exceptional bowling performance enabled Bangladesh to take a slender 18-run lead after dismissing the West Indies for just 146 runs at Sabina Park in Jamaica on Day 3. Following this, Bangladesh reached 193-5 by stumps, extending their lead to 211 runs, with hopes of setting a challenging target for the hosts. Expressing his delight after the day's play, Rana said, "Alhamdulillah (for my maiden five-wicket haul). I did not try too many things. I just focused on bowling without giving much room to the batters. I jus t kept it simple and still trying to learn how to bowl in different situations." Rana emphasized the importance of maintaining a disciplined line and length on such pitches, noting, "I feel if you maintain the line and length and bowl wicket-to-wicket without giving room to the batters in this wicket, it will fetch you the success. If the batters are stifled, they will try a lot of things, which can be negative for them and positive for a bowler." Looking ahead, Rana believes Bangladesh is in a favorable position to win the Test match. He suggested that setting a target of around 250 would be advantageous, as batting on Day 4 could be challenging due to the expected uneven bounce of the pitch. "I believed a target around 250 would be good. If we can score over 250, it will be difficult to bat for the batsmen on day four because there will be an uneven bounce in the wicket," he explained. Rana also indicated that the spinners could play a crucial role in the fourth innings, as the pitch is likely to deterio rate further. "There will be turn for the spinners in the fourth innings, and we can get something good," he added.
