Dhaka: Title aspirant Mohammedan Sporting Club roped in pacer Mustafizur Rahman for the Super Six phase of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). The pacer trained with Mohammedan players today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium for the crucial phase of the league, which is set to begin on Thursday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mustafizur didn’t play the group phase of the DPL for any team due to injury concerns. Mohammedan, primarily formed with current national players, significantly lost their strength ahead of the Super Six phase after they had to release as many as seven players for the Zimbabwe Test series.
In addition, their captain Towhid Hridoy will miss the first two matches of the Super Six after being banned following an altercation with the umpires during their high-voltage clash against archrivals Abahani Limited. Mohammedan will take on Legends of Rupganj in their first match of the Super Six phase at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The Motijheel outfit tops the point table following their victory over Abahani in the last match of the group phase.
