Men’s Hockey Team Reaches Jakarta Safely for AHF Cup

Jakarta: Bangladesh national hockey team reached Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, today (Tuesday) safely to take part in the Men’s AHF Cup 10-team event scheduled from April 17 to 27 in Jakarta.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the hockey team, which left Dhaka early today, landed in Jakarta at 10.30 am Bangladesh time, as confirmed by a message received from Bangladesh Hockey Federation.



Bangladesh are the champions of the last four editions of this tournament. Earlier, prior to the team’s departure, head coach Mamun Ur Rashid expressed his determination to defend the title. “As we are the champions of the last four editions of the AHF Cup so target has been automatically set and we want to become champion of the tournament this time as well,” said Mamun while talking to BSS.



The AHF Cup tournament will serve as the qualification tournament for the Asia Cup. In the tournament, Bangladesh are pitted against hosts Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Kazakhstan in Pool B.



Fixtures for Bangladesh in the tournament are as follows: April 18 against Kazakhstan, April 20 against Indonesia, April 22 against Thailand, and April 23 against Sri Lanka.
