Muhith urges students to concentrate on acquiring knowledge

Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said students should keep themselves engaged in pursuit of knowledge throughout their life because knowledge is increasing every day.

"You will take up our position one day, you have such talent. You must go ahead with this spirit," the minister told a group of students at a stipend distribution ceremony of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited at Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium here.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anusul Haq, Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh BenoOt-Pierre Laram,e and Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank K.S. Tabrez spoke on the occasion.

He urged the guardians to be more attentive to their daughters so they complete their education. He said the present government is an education friendly government which has taken education as a weapon to eradicate poverty.

DBBL has given stipend to a total of 3,037 poor and meritorious students who passed SSC and equivalent examinations. Each student will get Tk 2000 in cash every month during their academic period at higher secondary education. Besides, each student will receive Tk 2,500 for educational materials and Tk 1000 for dresses.
