MPs unhappy about budget of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure

Kathmandu: Members of parliament have expressed their discontent over the budget allocation of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

During the discussion on the Appropriation Bill, 2081 in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, the MPs accused the Minister of Physical Infrastructure of concentrating budget in his constituency. Even, the MPs from the ruling party raised questions over the allocation, accusing that the funds had been distributed on the basis of influences

MP Tejulal Chaudhary said that there is a difference in budget allocation among the districts of Madhes province while areas like Karnali have been neglected.

MP Choudhary also returned the red book of the budget in protest against what is said failure to allocate budget for any schemes in Saptari.

Likewise, MP Prabhu Hajara claimed that Madhes province has comparatively received more budget allocation. He also suggested making the budget balanced and objective.

MP Purna Bahadur Tamang also blamed the physical
infrastructure minister of concentrating budget in his district.

Similarly, MP Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri accused the Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport of not allocating budget to districts that are not yet linked by road infrastructure.

MP Badri Prasad Pandey argued that the budget has hurt equitable development while MP Mahesh Bertaula complained that the budget could not prioritize the development of Makwanpur and demanded sufficient budget for the early completion of the Chitlang-Thankot road.

The next meeting of the House of Representatives will be held tomorrow.
