Dhaka: The government has introduced a revised policy aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency in the transfer process for MPO-listed teachers employed in private educational institutions nationwide. This new policy is designed to streamline the movement of teachers by setting clear guidelines and utilizing digital solutions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the revised policy allows teachers to apply for a transfer after completing a minimum of two years of service from their initial appointment date. The process is intended to be transparent, with all procedures conducted online through specialized software, ensuring a smooth and efficient system.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Education Ministry has officially issued a gazette notification detailing this policy, named the "Transfer Policy for MPO-Listed Teachers Working in Private Educational Institutions (Schools and Colleges)-2026 (Revised)." The policy becomes effective immediately as stated in the notification.
The new guidelines are applicable to all MPO-listed teachers, which includes heads of institutions, assistant heads, demonstrators, and trade instructors. It mandates that teachers must remain in the same institution for at least two years after their initial appointment. After a transfer to a new workplace, they are required to serve another two-year term before being eligible for another transfer.
Teachers are permitted a maximum of three transfers throughout their careers, ensuring a balance between teacher mobility and institutional stability.
