Jhenaidah: A motorcyclist was killed and another injured when a pickup van hit their motorbike in the Baluhar area under Kotchandpur upazila of the district today. The deceased was Shafiqul Islam, 19, a resident of Azampur village in Maheshpur upazila of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident took place around 1:30 pm near Dakattala Bridge when a pickup van collided with the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. This collision resulted in the immediate death of the rider, Shafiqul, while the pillion passenger sustained injuries.
Kabir Hossain Matubbar, the Officer-in-Charge of Kotchandpur Police Station, confirmed the details of the incident. The injured passenger, identified as Habib, was initially taken to the Kotchandpur Upazila Health Complex. Due to the severity of his injuries, the on-duty doctors later referred him to Jashore General Hospital for further treatment.
