Mother, Daughter Victims of Alleged Gang Rape During Robbery in Cox’s Bazar; Six Arrested

Edinburgh: A 35-year-old woman and her school-going daughter were allegedly gang-raped by a group of robbers during a robbery at their home in the newly formed Matamuhuri upazila of Cox’s Bazar district early Tuesday.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred when 8-10 robbers broke into the house of an expatriate in the Sikdarpara Dalnirghona area at around 2:30 am by forcing open a window grill. The robbers looted valuables, including gold ornaments and cash, before committing the alleged sexual assault on the woman and her daughter, a Class-X student.



The victims were initially taken by relatives to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Sadar Hospital. The daughter is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to her critical condition caused by excessive bleeding.



Assistant Superintendent of Police (Chakaria Circle) Ovijit Das, along with several police teams, visited the crime scene. Following the incident, police detained six individuals suspected of involvement, as confirmed by Officer-in-Charge Monir Hossain of Chakaria Police Station. The detainees include Rezaul, Mehedi, Babu, Kefayet, and Tanzid from the Purba Barabheola union.
