Sylhet: Mosaddek Hossain Saikat vowed to give his best to help Dhaka Capitals return to winning ways in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Dhaka Capitals are currently at the bottom of the table after losing three matches in a row.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, as Dhaka Capitals began the Sylhet phase of the BPL in a bid to snap their losing streak, all eyes were on Mosaddek Hossain, a former national player who was once considered one of the most talented players Bangladesh has ever produced. However, Mosaddek was not recruited by any team in this season from the draft, a significant setback for a player aiming to make a comeback to the national team. Fortunately for him, Dhaka Capitals finally recruited him, offering a chance to prove his credentials once again.
"It was disappointing. I also said this during the NCL T20 that it was disappointing for me (not getting a team). But I didn't stop training. I continued it and tried to play cricket here and there as much as it is possible," Mosaddek shared after his side's practice session in Sylhet. He expressed optimism about the opportunity to play well again and demonstrate his value, stating, "If I can play well here, then definitely a good opportunity will come."
The Dhaka franchise, which entered the BPL under new ownership, has struggled to perform on the field despite organizing various events outside. Mosaddek acknowledged the challenges, noting, "It can happen. If a team does not get momentum in franchise cricket, it is a little difficult for them." He emphasized the importance of momentum in returning to winning ways.
"If the team gets momentum, there is a chance to do well. I think that opportunity to turn around will be here again and I just need to grab it with both hands. Personally, if I get the opportunity to play, I want to give 100 percent to the team. I want to contribute as much as I can to the team and win the match," Mosaddek remarked.
Reflecting on his previous performance, Mosaddek endured a challenging outing last season, scoring just 91 runs in nine matches and taking three wickets. However, he is determined to start afresh, focusing on the current season. "A season for a player can be worse or can be good. I am not worried about that at all," he stated. Mosaddek is concentrating on performing well this season, believing that success could open doors to the national team once again.
