Kishoreganj: The use of mobile phones in schools has been banned for students from classes one to ten in Pakundia upazila of the district. The decision was taken based on the opinions of a meeting of the upazila administration on Tuesday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the upazila administration implemented this decision to enhance the quality of education and maintain a conducive learning environment. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Billal Hossain emphasized that the main goal is to ensure students can concentrate on their studies without the distraction of mobile phones. He stated, “Our main goal is to ensure that students can focus on their studies regularly and stay free from mobile phone addiction.”
Hossain also highlighted the importance of the role of teachers and guardians in enforcing the ban effectively. He mentioned, “Teachers and guardians will have to play a vigilant role to keep this decision effective.” The initiative aims to build a better future for the students by minimizing distractions caused by mobile phones.
Educational institutions have been instructed to enforce the ban strictly, ensuring that no student uses a mobile phone in school. Furthermore, parents are encouraged to monitor their children’s mobile phone usage at home to prevent misuse. Educationists believe that if Pakundia’s decision proves successful in curbing the negative trends associated with mobile phone use among students, it could inspire similar measures in other upazilas and districts.
